Porto wins award for best European seaside city at tourism 'Oscars”

Porto continues to enchant the world with its beauty and diversity. After being elected Best European City Break Destination in 2023, the Invicta was again recognized at the World Travel Awards, this time as the Best Seaside Metropolitan Destination.

In this edition, Porto competed alongside destinations such as Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Istanbul, Lisbon, the Attica region, and Venice. This triumph was the first time the city has won such a distinction, which attests to its uniqueness and ability to innovate and captivate visitors worldwide.

For Catarina Santos Cunha, Councilor for Tourism and Internationalization of the Porto City Council, this award is a testament to the quality and variety that Porto offers as a tourist destination: "This recognition highlights the quality of Porto as a tourist destination, as well as rewarding the excellence of an increasingly attractive and inclusive seaside, an area of great scenic beauty where the city meets the sea, ideal for the enjoyment of all."

The councillor added that this distinction is "completely aligned with the municipality's vision, which focuses on decentralization and the exploration of different neighbourhoods of the city for greater balance and sustainability of the territory."

The award was presented during the 31st edition of the World Travel Awards, held in Berlin. This event brings together the leading players in the sector, influencers, and specialized media. The World Travel Awards are globally recognized as a seal of excellence, covering all travel and tourism industry segments, from hotels and resorts to airlines and tour operators.
